Snow

I wish I brought my work laptop home to reasonably avoid snow tomorrow.

How did I end up here?

Almost three years ago I relocated with my wife to Western Pennsylvania after accepting a position with financial services company working in Pittsburgh.  Growing up and living in the South my entire life I never contemplated the possibility that I would eventually find myself living in the dreadful North.  Though here I am.

Pittsburgh is a perfectly nice place actually, in fact it is probably the most underrated, overlooked city in the country, at least in my estimation.  In fact Pittsburgh is good at many things:

1. Winning football games - perhaps a 7th Superbowl in just a few weeks.
2. Winning Hockey games - the Penguins  hoisted a cup just two years ago.
3. Not winning baseball games - if the Pirates consecutive season losing streak were a person, it could vote.
4. Bridges - necessary to traverse the rivers which form a triangular moat around the city which either keeps people in Pittsburgh or out... I am not sure which.
5.  Unhealthy Food - french fries often are substituted for lettuce or other garnishment.
6.  Navigating potholes - since filling  pothole only becomes a priority after it becomes a sinkhole.
7.  Culture - believe it or not there are many high quality museums, theaters, and galleries within Pittsburgh.  All named for fancy benefactors whose wealth has far outlived them.
8. Complaining about the weather - I find Pittsburghers complain about the weather regardless of season, temperature, or any other variable.  Apparently the weather is a constant issue.
9. Surviving - Despite the implosion of the steel industry, Pittsburgh is still here.  Though I suspect Pittsburgh could survive worse calamity... these people are stubborn.

I am sure Pittsburgh is quite good at other things too, though the above come to mind.  All in all ending up here is not too terrible.
